Welcoming Autumn in Pasadena: A Season of Change & Reflection

Autumn always arrives softly in Pasadena. While we don’t experience the dramatic bursts of red and orange seen in other parts of the country, there is still a quiet shift in the air that signals the season has turned. The sunlight feels a little softer, the evenings cool a little sooner, and there is an almost unspoken reminder that the year is winding gently toward its close.

October invites us into a season of change — not only in nature, but in ourselves. There’s something about autumn that makes us pause and reflect. Perhaps it is the way light filters through the trees in the late afternoon, or the way the garden begins to rest, reminding us that slowing down is natural and necessary.

In our community, this season mirrors the small transformations we see around us. A neighbor planting fall flowers. Children donning costumes for Halloween festivities. Friends gathering outdoors under golden skies for long conversations. These shifts, though subtle, are filled with meaning.

Reflection doesn’t always need to be formal. Sometimes it’s as simple as sitting with a cup of tea and noticing the rhythm of our own breathing. Or it may be in taking a walk and finding gratitude in the crunch of leaves beneath our feet. As we enter October, may we give ourselves permission to pause, to look inward, and to welcome change with grace.
